Belland Construction located in Williamsburg, Iowa has a long history in rural Iowa. They have been in business for over 75 years serving the community with a variety of construction needs. I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Quinn Wolfe, Vice President at Belland Construction.

How did you get into the building industry?
My Dad was in construction; he was a concrete contractor so I worked with him when I was growing up. When I got older, he said, “You need to go to college.” So, I went to college and pursued a degree in Art Education and Administration. I then worked in education for around 15 years and during the summers I would build decks and other construction projects.

How did you get started with Amwood and how long have you been with us?
My father-in-law, Tom Belland, and brother-in-law, Blair Belland have been in new construction their entire careers and I joined them around 6 years ago. Belland Construction has been in the industry for over 75 years and is a family-run business. Previous to working with Amwood we were a Wick Buildings dealer.

Tell us a little about your business model.  Do you build contractor homes, spec homes, model homes, remodeling, etc?
Belland provides customers with plumbing, heating, and air conditioning services. We subcontract these services as well. For the home construction portion of our business, we build contract homes, spec and model homes, and offer remodeling services. Basically, a one-stop shop for any home build project.

What is the price range of the homes you build?
$300,000 to $500,000

What type of style of home do you build?
We primarily build ranches, but we also build split-level and duplexes.

What is the total number of homes Belland has built with Amwood? What is the total of homes you have built?
Belland has built hundreds of homes with Amwood over the span of 12 to 14 years. Since my time with the company we have built around 60 homes so far in my 6 years here and we are on track to be around 70 homes by the end of the year.

Where do you get your leads and what type of marketing has brought you the most success?

Word-of-mouth is probably our best source of leads. Laurynn, our Office Administrator, has really strengthened our social media presence and we have received leads from that as well. Our marketing success comes from a combination of items, we have all of our vehicles branded with our information, we utilize social media, and word-of-mouth referrals. Since we are located in a small town of around 3,400 people we donate and sponsor many local community programs and events. We believe strongly in being present in the community.

Tell us a little about your family.
My wife, Kiley is a Realtor and we have a 9-year-old son named Wesley and a 5-year-old daughter named Willa. My brother-in-law, Blair has a wife named Kate and 3 children, Kinley who is 12, Charlotte who is 8 and Dallas who is 4.

Other interesting facts or items you would like to share?
With my background in education, I am a member of the local school board. My brother-in-law is a volunteer fireman. We all believe in actively participating in our community and church. We help out in the local youth sports and other community activities.
