New Regional Sales Manager, Kevlin Frerks

This month we would like to introduce you to our new Regional Sales Manager (RSM), Kevlin Frerks. Kevlin is currently working with builders in the Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin regions. He has a variety of experience in the construction industry and we are happy to have him here at Amwood.

What is your work and educational background?

I began working in the industry when I was young. My father has a residential home construction business and I would help out on and off throughout my teens and college years. Since I was free labor for my dad, he would put me to work on all sorts of projects on the job site. I estimate that I framed at least 15 homes for my dad during this time frame. I worked on 40 – 50 projects overall, including 5 – 6 of his own homes.

I went to college at Winona State in Wisconsin and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Political Science with a business law minor.

For the last seven years, I have been working at Therma Tech Windows and Doors as a Business Development Manager. Therma Tech is headquartered in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, and services the Midwest with a variety of window and door options.

What made you decide to apply for the position with Amwood?

I knew I wanted to stay in the construction industry and was looking for something different. When I saw the listing for the RSM position it looked like something that would be a good fit for me with my background.

What is one feature you could not live without in your dream home?

My wife and I are actually in the process of building a new home for ourselves. We have a few key features that were a must for us. One feature was to have a walk-out basement. We have two dogs and having the walk-out basement will make life easier for us and the dogs. Other items include a man cave for myself and a craft room for my wife.

Can you tell us a little bit about your family?

My wife, Janice is a special education teacher for the Rochester school district in Minnesota. We have been married for 27 years and have 3 adult children; Josh age 26, Bel age 24, and Sam age 21. Sam is currently the only one still living with us since he is still in college.

Did you grow up in the Midwest or are you originally from another area?

We have been in the Rochester area for 28 years. I am originally from Winona, Wisconsin which is in northern Wisconsin and I have lived in the Midwest my entire life.

Do you have any hobbies or other fun facts that we may like to hear about?

I enjoy fishing, ice fishing, and hiking. I am also a big Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan.
