Amwood Homes delivers homes to mainly a four-state region (WI, IL, MN, and IA). We supply our builder network with housing packages that range from first-time buyer to leisure cabins to luxury homes. We design the homes based on the materials requested by our builders. Every builder has their own preferences and we configure the projects to accommodate their needs. We build the floor cassettes, wall panels, and trusses in one of our two production facilities located in Madison, WI and Montezuma IA. Then we site assemble the components constructing the entire framing of the home in just a few days.

Essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Utilize Revit and other programs to produce custom plans with attention to specification details
• Create concept plan sets during development & accurate construction plan sets for permits & production
• Resolve technical & design related issues in development or during production & work to incorporate innovative, sustainable solutions for clients and community
• Update and maintain correct and accurate plans in accordance with current code requirements
• Communicate with builders in a professional and respectful manner
• Process the design requirements and needs of the builders

LOCATION/SCHEDULE: We are looking to add to our design department at either our Janesville or Madison office, with work from home opportunity once on-site training is completed. Daily work schedule, at that time, can be flexible to work earlier in the morning or later in the evening to suit your needs.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in residential design using REVIT
• Basic knowledge of architectural design and building codes (UDC & IRC)
• Be able to read blueprints
• Understand construction concepts and terminologies
• Be able to size construction material under specific conditions and loads
• Good visualization and communication skills

Salary: Up to $26.00 per hour

The Truss Designer is responsible for drawing accurate plans while working with builders and other departments to provide a quality product to our customers. Essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Define and implement truss designs from blueprints
• Design 2D and 3D layouts and provide prints on truss systems
• Efficiently complete the design of plans in a timely manner to meet the production schedule
• Ensure project files, engineering seals and records are properly maintained
• Understand loading conditions and utilize design software packages.
• Update and maintain correct and accurate plans in accordance with current code requirements
• Computes load and grade requirements and material stress factors to determine design specifications based on the customer’s structural design needs.
• Stay current on local building codes
• Communicate with builders in a professional and respectful manner

• 3+ years proficient knowledge of MiTek
• 3+ years technical design experience
• Experience with home building processes, practices and building codes
• Be able to read blueprints
• Understand construction concepts and terminologies
• Be able to size construction material under specific conditions and loads
• Good visualization and communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Up to $28.00 per hour
