Builder Corner: Yedinak Construction

This month I had the pleasure of chatting with Keith Yedinak, owner of Yedinak Construction. Yedinak Construction is located in the small town of Berlin, Wisconsin, which is situated along the Fox River and is around an hour and a half north of Madison, Wisconsin.

How did you get into the building industry?
Over 40 years ago I started working in roofing and siding with some of my friends and started expanding from roofing and siding to building entire homes. Before that, I worked in a foundry and metal printing company.

How did you get started with Amwood and how long have you been with us?
I signed up with Amwood in 1992, before signing up I was looking for a building platform that would help me streamline my process and came across Amwood. I received a postcard and then inquired for additional information. Over 30 years later I am still working with Amwood and using the Amwood process.

Tell us a little about your business model. Do you build contract homes, spec homes, model homes, remodeling, etc?
I am a self-employed solo business owner in construction. In addition to building homes, I also do real estate investing and have rental properties. For the real estate business, I specialize in assisting
seniors transitioning from their homes to assisted living facilities.

I do not build spec homes. In the past, I have had model homes and worked on remodeling projects on existing homes. Today most of my projects are custom-built contracted homes. Over the years I have purchased and built a variety of investment properties. I enjoy helping people find affordable housing in the Berlin area.

Where do you get your leads?
Right now, most of my leads come from word-of-mouth or from other contractors who were not able to get a client into their new home in the timeframe that the homeowner wanted. I have been able to set in and assist these clients and get them into their new homes in a reasonable timeframe.

What type of marketing has brought you the most success?
Word of mouth is the type of marketing that has brought me the most success. I also have a Facebook page.

What is the price range of the homes you build?
Most of the homes that I build are starter homes or families looking to move into their second home and the price ranges from $375,000 to $650,000.

What type of style of home do you build the most?
The type of home that I build the most is single-family ranch-style homes.

Total number of homes built with Amwood? Total in your career?
Since I live in a small community the total number of homes that I have built is around 20 with Amwood and the total in my career is just a few more than that.

Tell us a little bit about your family.
I have been married for over 25 years, my wife Marta and I met in Mexico while we were both on vacation. Marta is an International Spanish teacher. She is also known for her podcasts and books that she has produced over the years for Spanish learners. We have 2 dogs who are our fur babies and have the run of the house.

Other interesting facts you would like to share?
I enjoy all types of cooking, but my favorite is to use my pellet smoker or deep fryer to cook injected turkeys or hams.
