Amwood CEO Named to Stronger Economy Task Force

(Madison - Jan. 11, 2010) Doug Scott, CEO of Amwood Homes, Inc. and current WBA President has been named to Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Mike Sheridan's Partnership for a Stronger Economy Taskforce.  The task force was created to promote long-term strategic dialogue between state government and those who create jobs, train and retrain workers and educate our future workforce.  The central goal is to create and retain jobs in Wisconsin.

"Doug's lifelong immersion in the world of business and the construction industry made him a logical choice to help the task force find ways to to make it easier to do business in Wisconsin by identifying obstacles that hinder economic development and create an unstable environment for business" said Jerry Deschange, WBA Executive Vice President.

Scott will be focusing on a number of policy items to jumpstart Wisconsin's economy and streamline regulation.  Some of those items include a state tax credit for the construction of a new primary residence in Wisconsin, ways to lower Wisconsin's property tax burden, providing incentives for energy efficient building practices and streamling the platting process in Wisconsin.

"The positive economic impact of the building industry in Wisconsin makes the voice of the building industry critical in examining its contribution to the turnaround" said Scott.
